工作介绍
1. 单层碳纳米管(SWNT)化学合成
Isobe教授以多环芳烃(PAH: Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons)中䓛(chrysene)的衍生物二溴䓛为原料出发,3步合成了含有6中异构体的单层碳纳米管产物,其中包括两对螺旋异构体。该产物可通过固定相为胆固醇衍生物的色谱柱分离,得到6种碳纳米管[1a],并发现具有光学活性的碳纳米管的合成是可能的。随后的研究发现,将过量的胆固醇添加到反应体系后,他们在世界范围内首次实现对映选择性富集的手性碳纳米管的合成,ee值最高能有17%。
此外,他们还通过使用溴原子取代位置不同的䓛(chrysene)衍生物,在世界范围内首次成功实现了曲折型(Zigzag)单壁碳纳米管(SWNT)的自下而上化学合成[1b]。

2. Development of molecular bearings using SWNT
Isobe教授利用其合成的单层碳纳米管(SENT),与富勒烯组装成一个peapot状的分子轴承(molecular bearings)[2a]。与传统的分子轴承(molecular bearings)不同,该分子轴承是固态的,为其性质研究带来了便利。同步辐射X-射线衍射(synchrotron X-ray diffraction)表明,该结构内部是一个光滑无拐点的Hirshfeld面,富勒烯客体分子能在进行动态运动,且根据温度的不同,有进动(Procession)和转动(Spin)两种类型[2b-d]。

3. Molecules with unique skeleton
除上述单层碳纳米管(SWNT)和分子轴承(Molecular bearings)外,Isobe教授还合成报道了许多具有特殊结构的分子。如通过偶联反应合成的碗状化合物(Bowl-shaped molecular)[3a],
将氧杂降冰片二烯(Oxanorbornadiene)作为转角单元(corner unit)合成的carbon nanohoops[3b]。

Isobe教授也积极开展应用与合作研究,如大环有机化合物在电池和有机EL材料中的应用研究[4a,b],以及与数学家合作以测量碳纳米管的长度和带状分子(Belt molecular)结构的几何学阐述[4c,d]。
